Tempered Safety Glass

Tempered Safety Glass

The Tempered Safety Glass processed in our facility is high-strength architectural safety glass manufactured by heating premium annealed float glass to its softening point in a convection furnace, followed by rapid, controlled air quenching. This thermal process establishes deep compressive stress on the glass surfaces while balancing tensile stress in the core, increasing mechanical impact resistance, bending strength, and thermal shock resistance to multiple times that of standard annealed glass.

 Product Description

The Tempered Safety Glass processed in our facility is high-strength architectural safety glass manufactured by heating premium annealed float glass to its softening point in a convection furnace, followed by rapid, controlled air quenching. This thermal process establishes deep compressive stress on the glass surfaces while balancing tensile stress in the core, increasing mechanical impact resistance, bending strength, and thermal shock resistance to multiple times that of standard annealed glass. When broken by severe impact, the glass fractures into small, blunt, honeycomb-like fragments, reducing the risk of severe lacerations. This Tempered Safety Glass is widely utilized across architectural windows, glazed curtain walls, frameless shower enclosures, commercial interior partitions, staircase balustrades, and furniture panels to meet building safety glazing codes.

Application Scenarios

  • Building envelopes, exterior vision lites, curtain walls, sunroom canopies, and skylights exposed to structural wind loads and thermal stress.
  • Frameless shower enclosures, bathroom screens, retail storefront display windows, and interior pedestrian safety partitions.
  • Commercial atrium balustrades, interior and exterior staircase railings, balcony guardrails, and tempered glass furniture table tops.

Technical Specifications

  • Thickness Range: 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, and 19mm standard thicknesses
  • Edge Finishing Options: Rough arrissed, polished flat edge, pencil round edge, beveled edge, safety chamfering, and CNC drilling or notching
  • Secondary Processing: Heat Soak Testing (HST to reduce spontaneous breakage risks), ceramic frit silk-screening, laminating, insulating, and Low-E coating
  • Quality Testing Criteria: Fragmentation particle count audits, surface compressive stress testing, dimensional tolerance checks, flatness audits, and optical surface inspection
  • Sizing Parameters: Custom cut-to-size dimensions based on project drawings, site crane capacity, and container shipping limits

Customization Capabilities

As a specialized glass fabrication facility, we provide full OEM/ODM deep-processing based on client CAD drawings. We perform irregular geometric cutting, CNC edge polishing, waterjet hinge cutout routing, and custom silk-screened ceramic frit patterns. Glass thicknesses and panel sizes can be combined within our 5,000,000 RMB project MOQ. Custom tempered glass samples are produced within 7 days, with free samples provided for project verification.

Quality Assurance & Factory Strength

Our facility operates horizontal roller-hearth convection tempering furnaces, automated double-edging production lines, CNC waterjet cutting centers, and laser-guided drilling machines to ensure uniform surface stress and minimal bow or roller-wave distortion. Quality inspectors perform 100% full inspections on finished panels, checking thickness tolerances, diagonal squareness, edge polish consistency, and surface scratch levels. With large monthly capacity, we accommodate third-party factory inspections and back all shipments with a 1-year product warranty.

Commercial FAQ

Q: What measures are taken to prevent spontaneous breakage in tempered glass on site?

A: We provide calibrated Heat Soak Testing (HST) in accordance with international standards, artificially accelerating the phase transformation of nickel sulfide (NiS) inclusions in a controlled thermal chamber to destroy defective panes prior to shipment.

Q: What is the standard manufacturing lead time for bulk tempered glass orders?

A: Standard flat tempered glass orders are completed within 30 days, while orders involving complex CNC notching, silk-screening, or heavy thicknesses require 35 days from raw material cutting.

Q: How are large tempered glass panels packed for ocean transit?

A: Panes are separated with anti-mold interleaving powder or high-density cork pads, strapped securely, and packed inside fully enclosed, fumigated solid wooden crates to prevent surface scratches and edge chipping during long-haul transit.
