With the global energy crisis of 1972, energy-efficient plastic windows saw widespread adoption in the early 1970s, which also spurred improvements in profile manufacturing technology, leading to increasingly sophisticated performance. From single-cavity profiles, three-cavity and four-cavity profiles were developed, driving the development of plastic doors and windows in Europe and Asia. According to incomplete statistics, plastic doors and windows account for 52% of the door and window market in Germany, 48% in Austria, and over 10%-20% in developed countries such as Switzerland, the UK, France, and Italy. Plastic windows began to be used in the United States in the late 1970s, with an annual growth rate of over 15%. In Asia, Japan, South Korea, China, Singapore, and Thailand are among the countries using plastic windows.

The production of plastic windows truly began in 1983 with the introduction of new equipment. With the industry's improvement in 1991, a number of manufacturers producing extrusion equipment, molds, profiles, and assembly equipment emerged domestically. In 1996, with strong national support and the establishment of newly formed manufacturers that imported advanced equipment from the 1990s, the industry's development was greatly propelled. Domestically, there are over 2,000 profile extrusion production lines, more than 400 profile factories, and over 3,000 assembly plants. In 1999, profile production capacity reached 800,000 tons, and the annual assembly capacity of doors and windows was 60 million square meters, making it one of the few rapidly developing industries in China. Plastic doors and windows, with their excellent performance, are being widely accepted by users.
